Flikita Katido

Flikita was a black calico Manx cat, who was very shy and retiring, but very affectionate when no one was looking. She'd hide behind the garage or under the bed, but when lights out happened, she'd be the first one on the bed, purring and making muffins. She lived for 15 1/2 years and was well loved by those who were actually able to see her. She was pretty inventive this one particular Christmas. My dad came to visit and she watched him from under the tree. He comes to visit every year, but she needed a little time to remember who he is. He called her "Fliki" and still has a photo of her on his web page.

She had a rabbity hop and I used to joke around that she was the daughter of Velocity and Ginger. No one believed me. There's an old saw that Manx cats are the result of a cross between a rabbit and a cat. But that is silly. We all know that Manx cats were standing in line at Mother Nature's office in order to get second helpings on bounciness and forgot to get tails.
