WORK EXPERIENCE


Senior Release Engineer 3/2001-current	Wind River Systems Coordinated release of large bundled product, WIND RIVER Platform for Network Equipment, version 1.0. Prepared a release plan, wrote CM plan, conducted interdepartmental meetings, prepared and revised MS Project schedules, coordinated with multiple development groups to create a seamless product from disparate components and software packages. Participated in releases of WIND RIVER Platform for Network Engineering 2.0 and WIND RIVER Platform for Consumer Devices. Integrated third party code into the in-house product line, for use in product integration, development, and testing. Automated source builds of Network products in conjunction with other Wind River products. Build and Release Engineer 2/2000-3/2001	Branders.com Selected and installed SCM system for project using Perforce. Created build scripts in Perl that updated the code view, ran the compile, parsed the output and mailed various people depending on the outcome. Created scripts that generated web pages, including a calendar pointing to daily output logs, nightly listings of documentation, and statuses of various tasks. Automated a cross platform web traffic tracking system using Webtrends. Had also automated the same task using Analog, a shareware system. Administered Blue Martini on UNIX, performing stages, activations and importation of data.

Release Engineer 1999-2000	Infoseek, Inc. aka Go Network, Sunnyvale, California Oversaw various processes involved in turning code into released product. The release model involved rolling files from the codeline to live web servers, which served as search engines and web content providers. The files were a mixture of content, a proprietary web search database, and a test auction system, similar to eBay's. This position involved the use of ClearCase, Perl, UNIX, GNU Makefiles.
Codeline Administrator 1996-1999	Sybase Inc., Emeryville, California. Provided codeline support and ClearCase administration for Sybase's Replication Server department. Utilized Clearcase codeline administration toolkit to maintain approximately 25,000 files, in several separate projects. Performed upgrade and tuning on Clearcase environment. Maintained monitoring tools on the internal departmental web using CGI, shell scripts.
Senior Software Engineer 1994-1996	Financial Engineering Associates, Berkeley, California. Maintained integrity of code stream, instructed and advised programmers in use of SCCS, RCS, makefiles, and cross- platform compilation issues. Ported all products to UNIX platforms, including Sun OS, Solaris 2.4, HP-UX, AIX, and DEC. Wrote code for UNIX-based spreadsheet interfaces. Created and tested shippable UNIX-based product images. Maintained and wrote shell scripts and makefiles to run automated build processes, license key generation utilities for customer support, and performed other tasks as needed. Other duties included supervising UNIX system administrators, answering customer support phone calls, creating custom images of beta products, repairing hardware, and diagnosing network problems. Automated system backups. Supervised junior systems administrator.
Junior Macintosh Programmer 1991-1994	Autodesk, Inc., San Rafael, California. Ported AutoCAD to the Macintosh with a team of programmers. Created error reporting code, converted existing code to ANSI standard, debugged "Proteus" code (multi-platform code which governed the behavior of dialog boxes, including programmable dialog boxes generated from AutoLISP and DCL macros).
Senior System Administrator 1989-1991	Autodesk, Inc., San Rafael, California. Maintained UUCP connectivity and mail service as site Postmaster, set up new hardware, installed and upgraded software instructed junior system administrators. Wrote shell scripts using csh, sh, and awk; wrote C utilities. Manually ran system backups and coordinated data retrieval requests with off-site storage facility.
Senior System Administrator 1988-1989	Pyramid Technology, San Jose, California. Maintained UUCP connectivity and mail service as site Postmaster, performed general UNIX support, instructed junior system administrators, system administrators, wrote shell script to add new users to database.
System Administrator 1987-1988	Advanced Decision Systems (ADS), Mountain View, California. Provided systems administration support on UNIX servers and desktop workstations in a networked environment.
System Administrator 1986-1987	The Whole Earth 'Lectronic Link, Sausalito, California. Systems administration on a Vax 11/750, running Berkeley UNIX, supporting the Picospan conferencing system for 3,000 very diverse users. The WELL was one of the first professionally run BBSes in the world.
Programming Intern 1986	Elan Computer Group, Mountain View, California. Ported EROFF, their main product, to UNIX platforms.

Prefer full time, salaried employment.

Currently in Berkeley, CA. Can relocate, commute or telecommute to most Bay Area locations. May consider relocation to other areas, including the Greater New York City area, Boston, or other major urban centers.
